Meet Bella Moo!  Bella is a Dutch rabbit who Rita thinks is around 3 years old.  She isn’t sure because she found Bella on the side of the road.  Rita says she was out driving when she noticed a rabbit at the end of a driveway, hanging out like she was waiting for a ride!  Rita stopped, picked Bella up and brought her home.  Bella Moo is quite the explorer and loves finding things to climb on!  She lives happily with her mate Gus!

Hiya Bunny Lovers!

We just spent the most bunderful day at Bunfest held by RabbitRescue!  Bunfest is a rabbit educational expo where they also sell lots of amazing bunny stuff.  There’s cool things for your rabbit to do while you’re there, vendors to visit and educate you, bunnies and other small critters up for adoption and all of the proceeds go to RabbitRescue!

Last year was our first year attending and we learnt some important things.  The first being – if you see something you want, buy it!  Some of the things I wanted were sold out by the time I had made my second rounds!  Next up – one bunny is enough!  Last year we brought both Rocky and Ollie which proved difficult when we started all of our shopping!  This year we only brought Ollie who I held through our adventures while Hubby carried all of our purchases.

There are so many things to love about Bunfest!  First, you get to meet other bunny lovers and their rabbits.  The different breeds, colours, sizes and personalities always astound me!  There were teeny tiny buns that would fit in the palm of your hand and then there were 20lb flemish giants!  Most of all, I’m a fairly shy person and it’s great to have somewhere to go where you have something in common with others that bonds you together.  And let me tell you, Bunny Lovers are incredible people!

Next up has to be the shopping and deals.  The first 150 visitors got a free loot bag full of fun stuff like treats, toys and information booklets.  Dunlea farms handed out free ‘tidy feeders’ full of hay to everyone and a local farm donated hay which was being sold for only $5 per garbage bag!  To me, the $5 hay makes the whole day worth it!  Being a city gal, I get stuck buying hay at the pet store which is not cheap when you have 4 rabbits!  The nice Bunfest volunteers let us buy 3 bags worth!  And then there’s the toys!  I find it really difficult to shop for a variety of toys at pet stores and they’re often asking twice the amount the toy was worth.  Not only does Bunfest give you a great selection of all different toys to choose from but many of them are an excellent price!

Best of all while you’re shopping you can drop your rabbit off at the Bunny Lounge.  This is where about 5 ex-pens full of hay, food and water were set up.  You could drop your rabbit off for about 15min. or so to let them relax and nom away while you were busy shopping!  I had a hard time pulling Ollie away from the Bunny Lounge as he never stops eating when there’s food in front of him!

A craft station was set up where we got to make a free bunny rattle, a fling thing and a bunny loot bag.  Ollie enjoyed the loot bag best as I snuck him a few cranberries while assembling it!  They also had a bunny spa where you could pay to have your rabbit groomed and their nails clipped and bunny glamour shots were you could have professional photos taken of your bunnies!

After about an hour and a half I was still excited to meet and chat with people but our shopping was done and Ollie and Hubby looked pooped!  Another successful Bunfest down – countless more to come!

This dear bunny’s name is Tobias.  Unfortunately Tobias passed away before his life had really begun when he consumed an apple seed accidentally.  All pits/seeds from even bunny acceptable fruit are poisonous or hazardous so make sure to remove them before handing over the treat to your pet.  As you can imagine his owners are devastated.

For all animal owners whether new or veteran please do your research before bringing home a new pet.  Even with the knowledge I possess I still regularly learn something new about my animals.  Knowledge is power and in the case of being a pet owner, can be the difference between life and death.

Jake is quite the stud!  An 8 year old Holland Lop, Jake’s birthday is around the Super Bowl so his birthday gets celebrated as Super Bunny Sunday!  Jake is a huge Red Sox fan who loves nose and head rubs from anyone he can get them from.  He enjoys snuggles too!  Jake also loves cuddling with his stuffed bunny collection, taunting his half-sister Cockatoo and pretending his half-brothers don’t exist.  Sorry Ladies! Jake is married to a beautiful Canadian Super Bunny model named Thomasina!  She is definitely one lucky Bun!

Franklin (or Frankie as he is often called) is approximately 2.5 years old and thought to be an English Spot.  Kelli adopted him from the House Rabbit Society of Georgia about a year and a half ago and couldn’t be happier with her decision!  Frankie is a very sweet little guy who is extremely affectionate to his mate, Josephine (a previous Bunday Sunday Bun!).

Cat (yes she has named her rabbit Cat) is an 8 week old Mini-Lop.  Danielle wanted a rabbit for some time before her boyfriend finally gave her one so I’ve deemed Cat a love-bun.  Danielle says her entire family has fallen in love with Cat who although is new to the family has caught on quickly!  She waits at the cage door with her nose poking through for Danielle or a family member to let her out!  It sure didn’t take long to learn the term ‘guilt trip’!

Josephine (Jo for short) is a 3 year old Lionhead who Kelli named after her Dad, Joseph because of the rockin’ mustache he sports.  Since Jo’s mustache is so pronounced she knew there was no one better to name her after.  Kelli says she is extra spunky and has lots of personality.  She is also very caring to her mate Franklin.

Meet Dennis! Melissa rescued this Netherland Dwarf Mix over 8 years ago and estimates Dennis to be around 9 years old. Melissa says it took some work to bond with Dennis, he had been neglected by his previous owner causing some aggressive behaviour.  Since then he has come out of his shell and loves a good snuggle and giving bunny kisses.  Dennis was even a doting husband for a few years! When Dennis eats his favourite treat banana his bum muscles twitch and spasm in excitement!

Colleen is not sure about their breeds but Charlie is a large female with black and white spots while Duggar is about half her size and brown.  Colleen says Charlie is the Queen B while Duggar is her ‘meek’ husband.  Guess we know who’s in charge of that relationship!

Dotty is a 3 year old Giant Papillon who according to Jen, is more loyal than you average dog.  She loves being cuddled and generally takes up more room in Jen and her hubby’s bed than either of them!  She’ll eat anything but her favs include strawberries, bananas and mint.  I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m loving those giant feets!
